Honor those who fight for our freedoms this Memorial Day

Memorial Day is Monday, May 27 and with it comes a full weekend of gathering with family and friends to honor those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

May is also Military Appreciation Month, designated by Congress as a time for Americans to show their appreciation to troops past and present.

Since 2000, Americans have been asked to annually observe the National Moment of Remembrance on Memorial Day which asks the country to pause for one minute at 3 p.m. (local time) as an act of national unity to remember our fallen military members at the very time that many Americans are enjoying their freedom on the holiday.

As you’re shopping for memorial decorations and family activities for the weekend, consider making a donation at Costco in honor of a friend or family member who has made the ultimate sacrifice for our country or is/was part of our heroic military. Your donation will help the children of military families (and all kids) who are treated at your local children’s hospital. Costco will be selling icon balloons through May 31.

Have a safe holiday weekend and thanks to all the military families we honor this month—for your sacrifices past and present—and to those who have given their lives to secure our freedoms.
